Virginia Bonofiglio began her 40 year career in the fragrance and cosmetic industry at the Givaudan Corporation where she trained in perfumery. Subsequently she held executive positions at Monsanto Flavor/Essence, BBA, Florasynth, and Felton Worldwide, where she developed fragrances for a wide variety of product categories including fine fragrance, personal care and home care.
Virginia’s expertise extended beyond perfumery into evaluation, sensory studies, beauty marketing, brand strategy, and corporate management. She has worked extensively with the Fragrance Foundation on their online Fragrance Certification program for retailers and has developed a specialized certificate program in perfumery for FIT.
For over 15 years Virginia has been a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology where she spearheaded in conjunction with Annette Green and Peg Smith the creation of the only Fragrance Studio on a college campus in the United States and developed a specialized curriculum for the Cosmetic & Fragrance Marketing Program.
Today she is the Chairperson of the Cosmetics & Fragrance Marketing Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology, which offers the only Bachelor of Science degree program of its kind in the United States.
